My name is Diego Tovar, and I'm originally from Austin, Texas. I graduated from Colorado State University, earning a bachelor's degree in Ecosystem Science and Sustainability with a minor in Political Communication. I received my master's in Global Environmental Policy from American University and now work for the Rachel Carson Council, an environmental-NGO based in Washington, DC.
I'm the writer of The Ascendants, The Ascendants: Empire of Ruin, The Red Siege, Tell it to the Tombs, and The Man on the Ring trilogy. In addition, my environmental opinion pieces have been published in The Washington Post and the Austin-American Statesman. As someone who is passionate about combining fiction, environmentalism, and social justice, my experiences in the White House, Indigenous government, Congress, EPA, and NGO spaces have helped shape the foundational themes of my stories. On the non-work side, my hobbies include hiking, playing basketball, and nature photography!
